Biography

Associate Attorney at CN&R. Mr. Capdevila-Díaz was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in 2015 and is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. He has eight years of experience in trial litigation and Bankruptcy Law representing debtors, creditors, and trustees in several cases regarding secured transactions, mortgage law, trusts, and tax assessment and liens. He has successfully represented clients before Puerto Rico Federal District Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in the Puerto Rico’s debt adjustment case under Tittle III of the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act (“PROMESA”), by effectively challenging the Oversight Board’s proposed classification and treatment under the plan of adjustment in the published opinions of In re: Fin. Oversight & Mgmt. Bd., 636 B.R. 1 (D.P.R. 2022), and Fin. Oversight & Mgmt. Bd. v. Cooperativa de Ahorro (In re: Fin. Oversight & Mgmt. Bd.), 41 F.4th 29 (1st Cir. 2022), respectively.

Mr. Capdevila-Díaz has also successfully represented the Puerto Rico’s Insurance Commissioner in two of the largest insurance delinquency proceedings in this jurisdiction and the U.S.V.I, the cases of Real Legacy Assurance Company and Integrand Insurance Company. He obtained his Juris Doctor (Magna Cum Laude) in 2014 from the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico, as well as a Master in Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) from the Graduate School of Business of the University of Puerto Rico in 2014, and Bachelor in Arts (Magna Cum Laude) from the School of Communications of the University of Puerto Rico in 2007. Mr. Capdevila-Díaz is also a volunteer at Save a Gato, Inc., a non-profit organization in San Juan, Puerto Rico, dedicates to humanely control the stray cat population in Old San Juan.
